cover of white paperToday the NMC announces the release of its newest white paper, produced in conjunction with the Economist Magazine and in collaboration with Apple, Inc.  The paper, entitled "The Future of Higher Education:  How Technology will Shape Learning " reports the results of a study of nearly 300 CIOs and technology leaders inside and outside of education.

Results of NMC 2008 Member Organization Survey

As part of its role in benchmarking the field of New Media, the NMC is sharing the results of its annual survey of member organizations.

Between January and April 2008, we surveyed 276 NMC institutions to collect information on services provided, technologies used, current projects, and staffing. Below you will find the results of this survey, including data on use of NMC benefits media services provided, exploration of new technologies, support for technologies, projects in virtual worlds, use of open-source tools, and staffing/salary data.

NMC Publishes Results of Educators in Second Life Survey

The New Media Consortium (NMC) is pleased to share the results of a Spring 2007 survey we conducted of educators who are participating in the virtual world of Second Life.

Sent out to members of the NMC, our in-world educational community, and the Second Life Educators Listserv (SLED) in May 2007, the survey represents the interests, activities, and demographics of more than 200 educators.

Overall, the results reflect the highly social interaction of Second Life and how educators have formed and contribute to a vibrant community in this virtual world space.

We are making all of the results available as a summary document of all 42 questions and an Appendix with the listings of responses to the open ended questions.

Results of Fall 2006 NMC Member Survey

The nearly 250 members of the NMC provide a unique cross section institutions using technology to support teaching, learning, and creativity. Each year we collect information from our members about the current practices in our field of New Media for both a snapshot of current practices overall, and to provide benchmarks for our members.

The results of the survey are attached below.

In December 2006 we surveyed 237 NMC institutions to collect information on services provided, technologies used, and current projects. Attached you will find the results of this survey, including data on use of NMC benefits media services provided, exploration of new technologies, support for technologies (e.g. audio/video streaming, blogs, wikis, and iTunesU), use of open-source tools, and more.
