Reflections on the Horizon.au Project Meeting
Posted July 28th, 2008 by Alan LevineAfter a full day of brainstorming and discussion to generate the first short list of topics for the first Horizon.au report, participants gathered at the University of Melbourne for an evening reception. We took the opportunity to ask several participants what they thought were highlights of the day, which you can hear in this podcast.

Horizon.au in Photos
Posted July 16th, 2008 by Alan LevineAs a sample of the activity for the July 10-11, 2008 Horizon.au meeting in Melbourne, Australia, here is a short video slide show of pictures from the meeting combined with an ambient mix of the discussions.
At this meeting, 37 gathered members of the Horizon.au advisory board met and processed the initial list of topics to be included in this new report, and distilled the voting down to a soon to be announced short list of 12 items to be contenders for the final report.

Horizon.au Project Launches in Melbourne
Posted July 9th, 2008 by Alan LevineThe Horizon.au project opened tonight as we brought together nearly 40 education Australian leaders with a welcome dinner in Melbourne. NMC staff introduced the project and provided an overview of the activities for the meeting on July 10.

All participants got an opportunity to share a special interest of theirs in the area of emerging technologies, which were visually recorded by NMC's Rachel Smith.

From July 5-20, 2008, the NMC leadership team of CEO Larry Johnson and Vice Presidents Rachel Smith and Alan Levine will be in Australia establishing a new phase of the Horizon Project and meeting with colleagues at our five Australian NMC member organizations. Look for a string of news stories and podcasts from this tour.
NMC Talks To Talis About Horizon Report

NMC is quite honored, particularly since Miller's previous interviewee was Sir Tim Berners-Lee- what an act to follow!

More Ways to Engage with the 2008 Horizon Report

We have tracked a steady flow of downloads of the report in PDF format and continuing our exploration of web publishing, today we are excited to share a new web version for the 2008 Horizon Report using the CommentPress format. Developed by the Institute for the Future of the Book, CommentPress is a template for the WordPress platform that provides a functionality for readers to post comments at the paragraph level. You can read and add to the report by commenting at http://wp.nmc.org/horizon2008.
2008 Horizon Report

The annual Horizon Report describes the continuing work of the NMC’s Horizon Project, a research-oriented effort that seeks to identify and describe emerging technologies likely to have considerable impact on teaching, learning, and creative expression within higher education
Thanks to the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya, the 2008 Horizon Report is now also available in Spanish and Catalan.

La Universitat Oberta de Catalunya ha iniciado su colaboración con el New Media Consortium (NMC), después de unirse a esta organización el pasado julio, con la traducción al castellano de la edición 2007 de su reconocido Informe Horizon. El documento, impulsado por el NMC y la EDUCAUSE Learning Initiative, analiza anualmente el impacto de las nuevas tecnologías en el campo de la educación superior. Tras la reciente publicación de la versión en español, el NMC y la UOC trabajan ya en la traducción al catalán. Todas las ediciones cuentan con licencia de Creative Commons para facilitar su difusión.
